Kallithea
Kallithea, 56 Menelaou St. (property of K. Karantza). M. Petritaki (ΚΣΤ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports on the discovery of six burials dating in late 5th c. – late 4th c. B.C. (Fig 1). Burial I is a sandstone sarcophagus, which contained an alabaster alabastron. Burial II is a pyre that contained a trefoil-lipped oinochoe, a fragment from an alabaster alabastron, a fragment from a poros alabastron and a fragment from an unguentarium. Burial III is a tile grave containing bronze nails (from a wooden coffin), an iron strigil and ten gold-plated, terracotta buttons. Burial IV is a pyre containing a squat lekythos, a fragment from a lamp, a trefoil-lipped oinochoe, pieces of a bronze pin and a bronze hoop with a hook. Burial V is a simple pit with no burial offerings. Burial VI is a tile grave containing a child burial together with a squat lekythos. Two Doric column capitals were also found in the area.
