Kyparissia, Mousga (property of A. Konstantopoulou and P. Kapakaidou) - 2006

Kyparissia, Mousga (property of A. Konstantopoulou and P. Kapakaidou). D. Kosmopoulos (ΛΗ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports the discovery of a large building with three construction phases dating to the late second to early first century BC, the third century AD, and the late fourth to fifth century AD. In the first phase, 12 walls defined rectangular rooms or spaces of 3-4m2, while 21 such walls date to the second phase. During the third phase, repairs, extensions and new walls were constructed: a 13m-long stretch of terracotta pipe running northwest to southeast may indicate the presence of a bathing installation.

Finds include domestic, storage, drinking and eating vessels, glass vessels, lamps, bronze coins, some bone pins, copper tools (pins and hooks), and loom weights.

A black and white pebble mosaic floor was found in and just beyond a test trench opened prior to the excavation of the building.
