Report
Kato Achaia, Agiou Ioannou Street (O.T. 267, property of E. Stavropoulou). V. Tsaknaki (Στ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports the discovery of a 10.5m-long stretch of road in the area of the potter’s quarter of ancient Dyme. Two successive surfaces were revealed, of tile and pottery sherds, gravel and earth: the earlier (with a retaining wall on the south side) is early Hellenistic in date, while the latter, along with part of a building (1) in the southeast part of the plot and poorly preserved walls across the entire area, belongs later in the Hellenistic period. A first-century AD level between the wall and building 1 belongs to the phase in which the area was abandoned. A classical refuse deposit in the northeast part of the plot predates the construction of the road.
