Report
Barliaki, Chavari. X. Arapogianni (Ζ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports the discovery of a pithos burial during road widening. Three vases were handed over by the contractors.
The pithos (1.3m tall and 0.75m in external diameter) was set north-south on its side. A stone slab closed the mouth, but only the lower part of the inhumation contained in the vessel was preserved. The rich good comprised 11 vases (three skyphoi, a lopas, and seven Attic red-figure lekythoi) dating from the early sixth century to the second half of the fourth. It is therefore suggested that the tomb was used for successive burials by the same family.
