Report
Ermione, Monastery of the Pammegistoi Taxiarches. G. Tsekes and K. Boudouris (5th EBA) report on study and restoration of the bell-tower of the katholikon, built in contact with the west face of the church. The 13.3m-high tower consists of a tetrapylon base (3.3m square and 6.3m tall), built in the grey stone of Hydra, and with a vaulted interior. On this is rests the main body, in two rectangular tiers built entirely in marble (each tier originally had eight columns supporting arched epistyles), and then an eight-sided crowning element.
