Report
Gymno, Kato Motsares. E. Sarri (Δ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports the discovery of 13 stone-built cist tombs arranged on three terraces. The lowest terrace had been disturbed by the opening of the farm road (northeast of Gymno and southeast of Leontio) which first revealed the existence of burials. Six graves (I-VI) lay on this terrace, with three on the middle (XI-XIII) and four on the upper (VII, VIII, IX and X). No skeletal material was found in XI, XII and XIII, but the remainder held single inhumations and in the case of X, two burials. Only tomb VII held an offering (a lekythos): nonetheless, the east-west orientation of the graves (which varied slightly on the middle terrace) confirms the Early Christian date thus indicated.
