Dans la commune d’Atalanti, S. Dimaki (XIVe éphorie des antiquités préhistoriques et classiques) a effectué en 2002 plusieurs sondages à travers le centre-ville, à l’occasion de travaux de canalisation. Les travaux ont mis au jour 26 tombes à ciste et deux tombes à tuile appartenant aux nécropoles protogéométrique et romaine, ainsi que des vestiges de construction de l’époque romaine.
