This chronology conflicts with the dating of excavation finds to the Early Iron Age, although it does connect with the Late Neolithic evidence from Doliana. Pottery from both sites (as from Kastritsa and Krya) includes groups of handmade, unpainted coarsewares with plastic decoration. While this pottery is usually assigned to the Early Iron Age, its production and use clearly continued for a long time. However, it must be noted that since the carbon samples concerned did not come from securely stratified contexts, these data from Ag. Marina cannot sustain a major revision of the established chronology of this pottery.
