Report
Megali Gotista, Church of Agia Kyriaki. A Karaberidi (8th EBA) reports a study of a simple (single chamber) wooden-roofed church, with a three-sided apse at the east, located on the site of a previous settlement. The wallpaintings which decorated the interior are in a poor state of preservation (being partially destroyed). The decorative scheme was austere: Christological scenes occupied the upper walls and saints were depicted full-length on the lower. On the dome of the apse, the Virgin was shown in the type of the Panagia Vlachernitissa. The frescos are dated by technique to the 17th century: the altar screen and small parts of the carved wood templon preserved within the more recent templon are also of this date.
