Report
Doliana, Agios Georgios (S. Alexiou property). A Karaberidi (8th EBA) reports on continuing excavation of the Early Christian basilica at Opagia Kalama. The floor mosaic in the north transept of the narthex was completely exposed: the south part is preserved, decorated with a garland of seven bands around a central ensemble of geometric motifs (Fig. 2).The floor of the south nave of the basilica was found. In the west part was a border of entwined bands around medallions containing a variety of images, and in the main scene personifications of the sea and a river with at least two fishermen between then plus sea birds and creatures. In the east part was a kantharos with cornucopias and vines flowering from it, as well as part of an unidentified scene. Traces of a six-line inscription were found at the east edge. Both floors were consolidated and lifted to complete their conservation.
