ANGISTRI - 2002

Angistri. K. P. Delaporta (EMA) reports on investigation in 2002 for the siting of harbour works at Mandraki Megalochoriou. Two undated sea walls of natural boulders form a small harbour shelter. Two square blocks at the beginning of the windward wall are probably what remains of the ancient harbour. Byzantine ceramics were noted on the beach between the two walls: towards the overlying hill, a rubble wall had in its outer face a marble block in secondary use.
