Report
Gulf of Herakleion. T. Theodoulou (Ephorate of Maritime Antiquities) reports on a collaborative project with the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution which revealed seven new shipwrecks in the Gulf of Herakleion, south and east of the isle of Dia.
One wreck contained Cretan amphorae of the 1st and 2nd centuries AD. A second held Late Roman amphorae (5th - to 7th-century AD), and two more were Byzantine (8th- to 9th-century and later). The final three were more recent.
