Report
Euboian Gulf. G. Koutsouphlakis (Ephoreia of Maritime Antiquities) reports the investigation of six shipwreck sites between Makronisos and the Lavreotiki in 2011-2012 in collaboration with the Hellenic Institute of Marine Archaeology. Four wrecks were around Makronisos at depths of 37-47 metres: one contained amphorae of the 4th century AD from north Africa and Sicily; another Rhodian amphorae of the late 3rd – early 2nd century BC; and a third Italian and Rhodian amphorae from the end of the 2nd century BC. One ship found off the Lavreotiki contained building materials (tiles and bricks) of the 1st – 2nd centuries AD, while another carried Hellenistic amphorae.
