Report
Kastelli, Gortyn. A Roman rural villa was discovered in the Apomarma-Ag. Deka area during work on the Herakleion-Moires road. A complex of cisterns and channels indicates oil or wine production over a number of successive phases in the building’s long existence (into the early Christian period). Its high status is shown by mosaic floors, marble inlays and a pair of marble column bases. The structure is to be lifted to the grounds of a local school.
