Report
Opagia Doliana. The 8th EBA reports the results of excavation at this walled settlement at the northeast end of the plain of Kalpaki. The settlement contained two Early Christian basilicas within an extensive building complex: in the southern part of the site was an eight-sided defensive tower (fig. 1). Basilica A, in the north of the site had three aisles and a tripart transept and narthex. The mosaic pavement (figs 2-4) was laid in two phases at the end of the fifth and the middle of the sixth century. Geometric motifs predominate in the narthex and the west part of the central transept. In the north transept were hunt scenes, wild animal combats and peaceful scenes, while in the south was a maritime scene with marine and riverine personifications.
