CHILIOMETRO - 2010

Chiliometro, Parga (Diamanti property). Th. Kontogianni (ΙΒ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports the discovery of two Hellenistic Π-shaped funerary periboloi during excavation for house construction. The first, in limestone masonry (carefully worked on the exterior and rougher on the interior), was preserved to foundation level (plus the first course of the south wall). It contained a looted cist tomb. To the south, the second peribolos, of which only the two long wall are partially preserved (the structure having been damaged by a modern wall), contained a cremation site by the north wall, with no bones. Objects found in the area suggest the burial of a young woman: these include a gold chain, rings, a bracelet and threads; silver rings and discs; bronze and bone pins; glass and ceramic lachrymateria, pyxides, and a mirror cover with a depiction of a woman in relief.
