Report
Alimos. 4 Kleious Street (O. and A. Papazian, O.T. 272 plot). K. Kaza-Papageorgiou (ΚΣτ ΕΠΚΑ) reports the discovery of part of a house (which probably continuing to the north into the neighbouring property) on the east slope of the hill of Ag. Anna, where the Thesmophorion and theatre of Halimnous, and the basilica of Ag. Anna, had previously been located.
In the southern part of the building was a large rectangular area (5.5 x 3.6m), perhaps a courtyard, in the southwest corner of which was a large parapet of three courses of stone slabs to a height of 0.27m. North of the rectangular area was a room (internally 4.5 x 3.1m) with two entrances to the north and south and three successive floors (of gravel, mortar, and rectangular slabs respectively). The walls had two successive layers of paint, the older with decoration of red bands. In the southwest corner of the room a semicircular pit probably held a large storage vessel. East of the room was a possible porch area opening to the east (internally 5.2 x 2.05m).
Pottery dates the use of the house to the second half of the fourth century BC.
