Report
Agios Thomas, Thymorachi (property of A. Lambrakopoulou). G. Alexopoulou (then Στ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports the discovery of a potter’s kiln. Two passages (prostomia) connect to the orthogonal firing chamber, the lower part of which is preserved (with a compacted clay floor): burnt remains from the firing chamber were found at the junction between the passages and the chamber. Fill in the kiln contained a few Early Hellenistic sherds, a conical loomweight and pithos bases, but no evidence for the eschara. Southeast of the kiln, excavation revealed masses of red clay, a large quantity of rooftiles (mostly kiln wasters), pithos sherds and two loomweights. The kiln site is close to a stream and to a source of wood for fuel on the Rachi tou Bobora.
