Agios Andreas, Koropi. O. Kakavogianni (Β' ΕΠΚΑ) reports. During the extension of the Attiki Odos to the south, an Early Helladic wall was found, plus two Classical funerary periboloi, part of a farm house, and a series of pits and kilns into which had been thrown fragments of funerary stelai.
By the ruins of the church of Ag. Andreas, to the east of an ancient road on the same orientation as the modern avenue, was a rectangular peribolos with two rock-cut graves (of which only one was unlooted) containing an aryballoid lekythos decorated with anthemia, and a strigil.
100m south, next to the Papaellina factory, another peribolos had been excavated by looters. One undisturbed cremation remained in a pit with four lekythoi (Fig. 1). Another pit was found with many graves goods (cooking pots, lopades, and phialae). Other finds in the area of the peribolos include a stamped tile ΒΟΤΑΚΙΩΝ ΠΥΓΙΖΕΤΑΙ ΥΠΟ ΛΥΣΙΜΕΝΟΥΣ.
Immediately to the east of the peribolos was a Hellenistic farmhouse. 150m further south, next to the east side of the bridge of the Markopoulos junction, a strong Early Helladic wall ran north-south. Pits and kilns were found in a trench sunk for the construction of the bridge: Late Classical pottery and seven fragments of marble funerary stelai were collected. The last include part of a funerary stele with a dexiosis relief with a hoplite, another with a relief of a loutrophoros on the neck of which were two hoplites and a tropaion (Fig. 2), and a small fragment of a third depicting a feast with the inscription ΣΑΓΓΑΡΙΟΣ ΧΡΗΣΤΟΣ.
