Report
Bertseko Lavreotikis, ore enrichment complex. K. G. Tsaimou (ΕΜΠ) reports.
300m south of the Kamariza area, a large sloping ore processing complex with a washery and feeding cistern was investigated, as were three level washeries with their cisterns and surrounding areas. Part of the modern mining road which runs above the ancient complex was removed. The level washery Π3 (Figs 1,2) is on ground sloping to the west, 11m from the large washery: only a small part of the walls of its feeding cistern and east wall are preserved. Cleaning of the west side of cistern Δ1 revealed an ancient road leading north-south into the complex.
Within the boundaries of the complex, near the level washery Π2, is the entrance to a mine gallery cut into schist (Fig. 3), its entrance on the north side of the large water cistern belonging to the complex.
