Report
Syngrou-Fix metro station. E. Lygkouri-Tolia (Γ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports the discovery of two large marble funerary lekythoi, apparently from the destruction of the adjacent cemetery, at a depth of 3.5m in the course of excavation of a narrow strip of land towards Kallirrois street. At this depth a reddish compact fill covered almost the entire area: seven wells were cut into the bedrock, two of which contained abundant Late Geometric pottery, and a third a lekythos and Early Classical sherds. Cuttings in the rock also contained Geometric and Archaic pottery.
