The excavation conducted in the central part of the narthex (in the area between cist graves 1 and 3) revealed 7 shaft graves. Each grave contained skeletons of adults in supine extended position with arms folded either over the chest or the abdomen. Some graves were disturbed and contained more than one skeletons (Fig. 1). In the north side or the narthex, 2 cist graves were excavated (Grave 2 and 3):
Grave 2 contained 4 adult skeletons in supine extended position with arms folded over the abdomen or the chest, orientation W-E. Grave goods: pottery sherds, parts of glass vessels and 10 iron nails.
Grave 3 contained 3 skeletons of adults and 1 infant, all of them in supine extended position. Grave goods: a gilded bronze round object with a suspension ring, 3 parts of glass vessels and 10 iron nails.
Excavation in the west side of Grave 3 revealed Tile grave 1 containing the skeletons of 2 children.
Part of the original floor and the marble threshold was also discovered below the cist graves 2 and 3 (Fig. 2).
