Report
Anthi Aggeli (Ephorate of Antiquities of Preveza) reports on the continuing excavations at the Junction of Gorgomylos. Excavations at the site in 2015 revealed a farmhouse dated to the Hellenistic and Roman times.
In 2016 the excavation continued to the E of the farmhouse (km position 163+230) revealing a two-room structure made of local limestone, probably auxiliary to the farmhouse rooms (Fig. 1). Among other finds in this section, a terracotta figurine of Nike dated to the Hellenistic times stands out. Excavations to the SE of the farmhouse (km position 163+180) revealed wall remains of two residential structures dated to the Roman times. Finds: pottery sherds, loom weights, glass vessels and coins. Another oblong structure was found to the N (km position 163+276) (Fig. 2). Finds: plethora of pottery sherds and iron tools. 3rd century AD. Archaeological remains dated to various periods were also discovered up to a hill at km position 163+020 ~ km position 163+087. Finds: three pithoi dated to the Late Bronze Age (Fig. 3). To the S of the farmhouse (excavated in 2015), part of a defensive wall was discovered.
A small building probably of defensive character was also located to the SE of the peribolos, at the top of the hill (Fig. 4). Around the building, three burials were uncovered:
On the hill [where the pithoi, the Hellenistic peribolos and the small building (castle) were], a building complex dated to the middle Byzantine times was also unearthed (Fig. 6).

- On the south wall of the building, a shaft grave did not preserve skeletal remains. Grave goods: parts of an oil lamp and glass unguentaria. 3rd century AD.
- To the west wall of the building, a burial built by limestones did not preserve skeletal remains. Grave goods: a bronze ring. Middle and Late Byzantine times.
On the hill [where the pithoi, the Hellenistic peribolos and the small building (castle) were], a building complex dated to the middle Byzantine times was also unearthed (Fig. 6).
