En 1978 a été mis au jour, sous la route qui relie le village moderne d'Amphipolis à la route Thessalonique-Serrès, un tronçon du rempart Est et de l'aqueduc du IVe siècle av. J.-C. Ce dernier est fait d'éléments cylindriques en terre cuite scellés au plomb.
