La 9e Éphorie des Antiquités byzantines a poursuivi en 1989 la fouille de l'église de l'Évêché de Kitros, en dégageant la réserve d'huile et la cuisine du fort franc. On a d'autre part reconnu une phase justinienne dans la construction du rempart.
