Patras - Vrachnaiika - 2011

Vrachnaiika, Regional Route Patras-Pyrgos and Intercity Railway at Vrachnaiika, Patras. Vasileios Argyropoulos (ΣΤ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports on the excavation held due to the construction of the main pipe of the dam of Peiros-Parapeiros. In the aforementioned site, a box-shaped grave was revealed, made of rectangular clay slabs (fig. 1).

The individual was placed in outstretched position, with the head on the N, and a small likithos with black-figure decoration, depicting olive leaves. The burial was dated in the Classical times.

Furthermore, a destruction layer of black painted Classical sherds was located E of the grave.
