Krousson
Krousonas. Liana Starida, Eleni Kanaki, Periandros Epitropakis, Z. Aletras, Ch. Mpilmezi and N. Marnellou (13η ΕΒΑ) report that N of the church of Panagia tis Keras, the ruins of a large potentially Early Christian three-aisled Basilica (end of 6th-half of 7th c.) are present.
The main body of the church is divided by columns in three parts/aisles. The middle one is the widest of the three and results in a large arch on the E, which is semi-circular on the interior and has five sides externally. Three out of five column bases are preserved at the E part of the middle aisle. The columns used to connect with each other through arcs potentially in order to support a semi-circular dome. Similarly to the middle aisle, the two side aisles also end up in semi-circular arches at the E. The church is cross-shaped in plan, while W of the main body of the basilica a rectangular narthex is connected to it.
The 13η ΕΒΑ, in collaboration with the Municipality of Krousonas, conducted excavation works which revealed the remains of the church. However, no floor was found since it has either been destroyed or its materials have been looted after the deserting of the monument. The fixing of the walls and the laying out of slabs in the interior of the church was also carried out. The surrounding space was also reformed and covered with sett stones.
