On a identifié en 1987 de nombreuses traces d'une exploitation antique du marbre, dans la carrière abandonnée d'une colline proche de la commune. On y signale également une base votive en marbre portant l'inscription [Ανέθη]κεν Ταρσας | Χαλκεύς. ArchDelt 42 (1987) [1992], B'2, p. 444-445.
