Des détails sur la fouille effectuée en 1986 entre l'église Saint-Athanase et celle du Sauveur (v. BCH 117 [1993] Chron., p. 866) sont fournis par E. Papathéophanous-Tsouri et K. Tsouris dans AD 44-46 (1989-91) [1996] A', p. 163-178 : le bâtiment dégagé était sans doute le soubassement (crypte ?) du catholicon d'un petit monastère.
