Schlager rend compte, dans Polémos, p. 171-177, de la découverte du site fortifié d'Aspro Néro, probablement fondé dès le début de l'époque protopalatiale, avec son mur cyclopéen qui comprend au moins trois bastions (v. BCH 122 [1998] Chron., p. 949, s.v. « Éparchie de Sitia » [Chronique n.12061]).
