Intersection of Lefkada-Nydri road with Perigialiou ring road - 2008
Nydri
Intersection of Lefkada-Nydri road with Perigialiou ring road. Maria Gatsi and Vivian Staikou (ΛΣΤ’ ΕΠΚΑ) report on discoveries made during the construction of a new road in the Ellomeno region.
Small sections of a Roman period building were found (Fig. 1), which were excavated in a plot of 12 x 6m. Four walls were discovered in total. The area was covered in a thick destruction deposit of tiles. No mosaic floor was found.
To the N and S of the walls, some stone piles were investigated. Pottery dating to the Roman period was found, as well as a few small finds and a bronze coin. The presence of regular mammatae indicates that there could have been a bath in this area.
