Thyrreio, Veneteika plot. Maria Gatsi and Vivian Staikou (ΛΣΤ’ ΕΠΚΑ) report on the excavation of two tiled roof graves, found during the construction of a new water supply system to Thyrreio.
The graves were oriented EW at a depth of 1.6m below the surface and 2.5m apart from one another. One was partially destroyed during machining; the second contained an adult in supine position. A black-painted lamp of the Hellenistic period was found in the area of the skull. Both graves had natural rock at their base.
