Un établissement d'époque hellénistique a été repéré en 1999, à l'occasion des travaux d'aménagement de la nouvelle « voie Egnatia ». Les mêmes travaux ont amené la découverte d'une nécropole de l'Age du Fer au lieu-dit Tzamala et celle d'une villa romaine dotée d'un vivier au lieu-dit Paliomana.
