Report
Timios Stavros site (field of E.G. Tampakakis), Lyttos. Maria Mavraki Balanou (ΚΓ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports that a salvage excavation took place at the site of Timios Stavros at the archaeological site of Lyttos, following illegal excavations in one of the semi-circular niches of a Roman complex and at another area nearby the niche, from which no pottery sherds derived (Fig. 1,2).
Based on the quantity of the finds, their frequency and the ones that the looters left behind, it seems that the niche did not contain a lot of sherds, and consequently other finds, either due to their quantity being originally low, or due to previous excavations of the Archaeological Service.
From the nearby deposit, a few sherds, mainly Roman, were collected, some having a yellow or a red slip, as well as a black-glazed Hellenistic fragment and part of a bowl.
