Description
Mantineia, Sagka, Tsouka. Stamatis Fritzilas (ΛΘ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports on the discovery of a guard tower on top of Tsouka Hill, overlooking the plain of Nestani (Fig. 1). Square in shape (4.60×4.70 m.), it was built of roughly worked stone blocks placed directly on the bedrock. The south-western corner was preserved to a height of two courses of blocks, while the northern and eastern sides were almost completely destroyed. No diagnostic pottery was found and it was interpreted as part of the fortifications of ancient Mantineia.
