Description
Megara, 10–12 Pluto Street (O.T. 306–307). Andromachi Katopodi (Γ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports on discoveries made during a major project for the environmental upgrade of Megara city, undertaken 2006–2009.
Remains of residential buildings were identified, in three separate locations. The corner of a possible cistern was also found. From inside area A, iron pieces, a few animal bones, and tiles were found, alongside pottery of the third century BC. Piece of a kantharos was found that has the image of a satyr on it; red painted pottery of the fifth century BC was also found. In area E, stone tools were found and architectural sculpture, alongside pottery of the fifth century BC. Area B contained pottery of the Late Classical and Early Hellenistic periods, and also some mosaic tesserae of the Roman period.
