Patras - 2010
Patras, motorway Corinth-Patras-Tsakona. Lamprini Papakosta (ΣΤ ΕΠΚΑ) reports on excavations necessitated by construction of the motorway in the region between Lampiri and Patras.
Trenches 628 and 629 (KM 114+300-114+400): From the fill of these trenches come fragments of tiles, bones, and stone tools. During the short excavation, remains of walls were discovered built with medium and large unworked stones. They were part of 2 separate farmsteads.
Trench 12 (KM 112+400): the investigation of this trench began the previous year. A destruction layer was discovered; sherds, shells, several stone objects of globular shape, several flints, a conical whorl, and large amounts of charcoal were collected.
Trench 115 (KM 114+300): the investigation of this trench began the previous year. A heaped cluster of stones was found.
Trench 157 (KM 112+878): begun in previous year. Four walls were discovered made from unworked stones and soil. Two defined a corner of a space.
Trench 648 (KM 114+900-113+000): in the middle of the trench a line of stones was discovered and, subsequently, a layer of unworked stones.
