Derveni (ΕΡΓΟΣΕ excavations). P. Kassimi and V. Papathanasiou (ΛΖ' ΕΠΚΑ) report on the discovery of architectural remains of an Early Bronze Age (II) settlement. Rubble walls defining small rooms were identified to a preserved height of 0.70 m., with a width ranging between 0.50m and 0.70 m. Access to the largest room was from the west, where a door pivot stone was identified. Fragments of large storage pithoi were recovered from the interior of the room, while 0.80 m to the north-west was a large in situ pithos (0.70 m diameter) with rope decoration (Fig. 1). Hand-made pottery fragments as well as obsidian blades were also found.
Excavation was carried out by D. Sarri, Chr. Tarnari and C. Fourtouni.
