Description
Akova, Argos, Plot of G. Galani. Eleni Sarri (Δ'ΕΠΚΑ) reports on the discovery of an aqueduct aligned on a N-S axis (Figs. 1, 2). Excavated along a length of 88 m., it was between 1.40-1.70 m. in overall width. It was filled with reddish soil, rubble and small pebbles derived from its upper structure, while its side walls of between 0.95-1.05 m. in height were built with stones, bricks and mortar, and internally lined with plaster. The base of the internal walls was covered with a waterproof skirting. The central water channel was 0.60 m. in width; its southern end coated with plaster while the rest was covered with bipedal clay slabs of 0.05 m. in thickness. Two adjoining rubble walls forming the eastern part of a room were located just 1.70 m. west of the aqueduct.
