Report
Kastro Zarnatas, Agios Nikolaos. Evaggelia Militsi (26th ΕΒΑ), reports on the excavation of the floor of the Church in order to provide evidence for the chronology of the building. The floor consisted of soil and stones and few clay slabs. In the interior of the church and attached to its southern wall is a rectangular construction of 1.35 m. in length, covered by fragments of bricks and stones. Part of a floor made of clay slabs was also identified within the construction at a depth of 0.12 m. below its surface, underneath which was a base layer of rubble and mortar. Another floor of clay slabs was excavated around the construction. Some of the clay slabs had potters’ marks.
