Description
Glyka Nera, Aiolou and Nikopoleos (O.T. 206, property of A. and I. Kalamodakou). Eirini Vrettou (B’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports on the discovery of two Mycenaean Chamber tombs (Fig. 1).
Tomb 1 (Fig 1): The chamber and the dromos were rock-cut and the latter was excavated for a length of 3.2. m. The entrance to the chamber had been sealed with a dry-stone wall. The chamber contained in total 24 vessels (jugs, stirrup jars, kyathoi, skyphoi, lekanes and pithoi), few spindle whorls, metal artefacts, seashells, three skeletons and 14 skulls. Some of these finds were found near the walls of the chamber while others were in two pits dug inside the chamber.
Tomb 2: The dromos was excavated for a length of 2.5. m. The chamber had been highly disturbed by modern construction and contained no finds. The only small finds from this tomb are LHIII pottery sherds, which were found on the dromos.
