Description
Iria (property of N.I. Drouza). Ch. Piteros (Δ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports the discovery of the foundations of a large Late Byzantine rectangular building with pottery of the Hellenistic, Roman and Late Byzantine periods. Animal bone, food remains and a few Classical sherds were also found. A deeper level produced Mycenaean sherds, a small Mycenaean prochous, a Late Helladic IIIB kylix, and Late Neolithic, Early Helladic III, and Middle Helladic sherds (but no architectural remains).
Elsewhere on the plot, a Byzantine pit grave contained a single inhumation with a bronze ring. At the eastern edge of the excavation were four round deposits, probably for storage, which contained grain, two millstones and animal bone.
