Description
Chania, junction of Peridou and Ypsilantou Streets (Dagadakis property). S. Markoulaki (ΚΕ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports on excavation in the centre of the ancient city. Below the Turkish cemetery lay a building (with a terminus ante quem of the third century AD) which had a monumental entrance on a toichobate. This had two rooms, the larger of which had earthen floors: a destruction deposits of tile and painted wall plaster was preserved over a part of it. Below the floor lay a well containing pottery, mostly of the fourth century BC.
