Description
Kaminaki. V. Apostolakou (ΚΔ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports the discovery of a Late Minoan IIIA1/2 tholos tomb between the villages of Magoula and Kaminaki (near the modern cemetery). The tomb had a square chamber and a stone lined dromos to the north: the chamber entrance was blocked with stones.
Roman pottery, lamps and coins of the first and second centuries AD were found in the fill. Lower layers contained pieces of larnakes, a Neopalatial stone lamp and a quantity of pottery. From just above the floor and from sieving came pieces of gold, vitreous material, and amber together with decorated pieces of ivory and three seal stones. An almost complete ivory figurine of a seated female was also discovered.
