Figareto, Kanoni. Chalikiopoulou property. G.-K. Avgerinou (Η’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports.
In Sector B (the south part of the plot), a 12m-long stretch of Hellenistic retaining wall ran east-west, preserved to a height of seven courses (1.2m) of pseudo-isodomic masonry. Further south lay a section of Classical probable water channel. Activity on the plot dates from the early Archaic to the Roman period, with most building remains being of Hellenistic date and likely belonging to workshops. Finds include sherds of Protocorinthian kotylai, the neck of a seventh-century conical oinochoe, and a Boiotian terracotta horse figurine of ca.510 BC. A Neolithic stone axe was an unusual find in this area.
In the north part of the Chalikiopoulou II property, six Hellenistic walls were found, plus a stretch of paved road bounded on the south side by a low wall to channel away water. At a lower depth was a section of floor of beaten earth with stone and tile. Part of the pebble floor of a courtyard was preserved inside the angle formed by two of the walls (1 and 2). In the south part of the plot were the fragmentary remains of three Archaic walls, with Archaic pottery. A section of water channel formed of roof-tiles ran parallel to one wall. Collections of stone and sherds were found in the northwest-central and southeast parts of the plot. Finds confirm activity from the seventh century to the Roman period. Characteristic finds include a Late Corinthian pointed aryballos (650-40 BC), the neck of a conical oinochoe (625-600 BC), a sixth- to seventh-century terracotta rider figurine, a Middle Corinthian kotyle with a scene of dancers (585-575 BC), and coins including a Roman coin of Kerkyra (229-48 AD).
