Description
Hermione, Dardiza Thermisias. Th. Theodoulou (EMA) reports on investigations in 2004 for the reopening of a loading platform at the inlet of Dardiza Thermisias. Remains of two Late Roman building complexes were found submerged in front of the old school of the Bodosaki plant. Walls (0.5 – 0.8m wide) of rubble with ceramics and larger stones were preserved to height of 1m. A number of 0.5m-square blocks were probably from pilasters. The northern complex included two walls of a 1.5m-wide corridor. Towards the shore, several square tiles were found, some in situ. The southern complex contained a semi-circular structure with thick walls, perhaps a tower, kiln or stairway. Sherds and parts of pithoi may indicate that this was a ceramic workshop.
