Description
Keratea, Velatouri Hill, Petroliagki Farm. O. Kakavogianni and K. Douni (Β’ ΕΠΚΑ) report on excavation in the prehistoric settlement undertaken to assess the transition from Early to Middle Helladic, and in particular to ascertain the existence and character of the controversial (for Attica) EH III period (2300-2000BC). A trench in the south side of the summit produced three walls preserved to a height of 1m (Fig. 1), MH pottery in the fill, and only a thin layer with EH sherds above stereo. Pottery included matt-painted and Minyan wares, as well as six pieces of litharge (some bowl-shaped with a series of small indentations on the bottom).
