Report
Chersonissos. Zotou Philonidou Street (A. Piperopoulou property). C. Galanaki (ΚΓ' ΕΠΚΑ) reports on excavation conducted in 2000. Parts of the foundations of a Roman building (Fig. 1) were discovered, along with a paved and cobbled courtyard and a pit (1.5m in diameter) containing a large quantity of amphora sherds (Fig. 2). Numerous sherds of plain, thick-walled Roman domestic pottery were recovered along the western side of the building. Below the Roman level was a layer with Early Hellenistic sherds. Small finds include fragments of painted plaster, glass vessel fragments, lamps, bronze coins, bone pins and shells, iron nails and terracotta loomweights.
