Description
Katsikorrachi or Trelagatho, Messolongi, between Kalydona and Pevrona. Kilometre position 31 + 500 + X.Th 31 +650. Maria Gatsi (ΛΣΤ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports on discoveries made during construction work on the Ionian Road motorway.
Remains of an extensive Hellenistic period agricultural facility were found, at a shallow depth beneath the surface. A kiln was also found, identified as Hasaki type 2c, with maximum dimension 4.25 x 2.45m, and covered in masses of burnt clay. To the W of the site, right graves were excavated, of which four were cists, and four were pits. Only two of the cists contained burials, dating to the later Classical peri-od. Two other cists (Hellenistic period) were excavated to the E of the site.
