Description
Palioureika site or Agios Theodoros, Grades or Kato Ampelia, Mesolongi. Maria Gatsi (ΛΣΤ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports on the excavation of a hitherto unrecorded Doric temple, oriented EW.
The N side is best preserved (Fig. 1), approaching a length of 35m and comprising a row of fourteen stones ranging from 1 to 3.1m. Some of the stones on the E face have a small protrusion on them (Fig. 2).
On the S side, the stones deviate from the straight line form and, because of the ground sloping slightly to the W, the stones forming parts of the structure on the N long side are slightly larger to compensate. The whole interior space of the temple seems to be approximately 29 x 9.80m.
